Obituary

On April 6, 2013, Linda Suzanne Stewart passed away at Virgina Mason Hospital in Seattle after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Linda was born on August 26, 1951 to Tom and Mary Stewart in Bellingham, WA. Linda graduated from Sehome High School in 1969, then from UW nursing school in 1973. Linda lived to be a nurse and loved her job. She started her nursing career at Shuksan Nursing Home at the age of 15.

Linda specialized in OB care, which took her from Bellingham, WA to Santa Rosa, CA, Sedro Woolley, WA, Beaumont, TX, Visalia, CA, and Ellensburg, WA. Along the way, she touched the lives of so many people, keeping in contact with them through the years. She was a great leader and took part in community services. While in California, Linda earned her Masters Degree from the University of Phoenix. She became part of the administration team while in Texas, and many of her employees regarded her as a great boss.

Linda loved her family and spending time with them, which was one reason she relocated to Ellensburg. She was always very supportive of her family and even inspired her niece, Amy, to become a nurse. Linda is survived by her mother Mary (Bill) Brough; brother Ron (Juile) Stewart; nieces Amy (Merritt) Washburn, and Alli (Tyler) Mitchell; nephew Tim (Angela) Stewart, and seven grand-nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed.

  1. I had the pleasure of working for Linda at Kaweah Delta for several years….she was an amazing nurse leader and always had faith in me when it came to achieving my goals. She always walked around with a smile. I was truly blessed to have worked with her. RIP Linda…..heaven has received a blessed angel!!!!

Please accept my sympathy to the loving Family & Friends in the painful loss of your dear Linda. She lived a full life of service to others & will be sorely missed by all those who knew, respected, and loved her. Hopefully you will be comforted by these Verses from the Bible: ISAIAH25:8 “HE WILL ACTUALLY SWALLOW UP DEATH FOREVER,AND THE SOVEREIGN LORD JEHOVAH WILL CERTAINLY WIPE THE TEARS FROM ALL FACES”

I worked with Linda in Ellensburg. She was a fine boss; I felt she was everybody’s advocate. She had a dry sense of humor which was good to hear when work was busy. She never seemed down, always just jumped in and helped. She would pass trays, asnwer the phone; nothing seemed to bother her. I will remember her as a friend as well as a wonderful boss.

I was blessed to have worked with Linda at Kaweah Delta hospital in Visalia – and she and I bonded over the fact that we had both lived and worked in Beaumont, TX during the same period. She was an incredible nurse leader, a great boss to all those who worked in her department, a co-worker you could trust, and most importantly, a friend. I still have a card she wrote for me when my friend Jon and I helped her as she co-chaired Nurses Week activities – she wrote so much in it that she ran out of room. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to get to work alongside her. Greg Friesz

  5. So sorry to learn of Linda’s passing. I am thankful that she was fortunate to be living closer to her family during her recurring illness. Linda was a fun person and quite social. Heaven received a new angel.
