Obituary

On April 6, 2013, Linda Suzanne Stewart passed away at Virgina Mason Hospital in Seattle after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Linda was born on August 26, 1951 to Tom and Mary Stewart in Bellingham, WA. Linda graduated from Sehome High School in 1969, then from UW nursing school in 1973. Linda lived to be a nurse and loved her job. She started her nursing career at Shuksan Nursing Home at the age of 15.

Linda specialized in OB care, which took her from Bellingham, WA to Santa Rosa, CA, Sedro Woolley, WA, Beaumont, TX, Visalia, CA, and Ellensburg, WA. Along the way, she touched the lives of so many people, keeping in contact with them through the years. She was a great leader and took part in community services. While in California, Linda earned her Masters Degree from the University of Phoenix. She became part of the administration team while in Texas, and many of her employees regarded her as a great boss.

Linda loved her family and spending time with them, which was one reason she relocated to Ellensburg. She was always very supportive of her family and even inspired her niece, Amy, to become a nurse. Linda is survived by her mother Mary (Bill) Brough; brother Ron (Juile) Stewart; nieces Amy (Merritt) Washburn, and Alli (Tyler) Mitchell; nephew Tim (Angela) Stewart, and seven grand-nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed.

  1. I worked with Linda at Kaweah Delta since 1991. I was a 20 year old new grad from nursing school. I was scared to death during my interview. The first words from her mouth was “When can you start?” Needless to say, I’m still a labor nurse today at Kaweah! Thanks Linda for taking a chance on me! She was a great boss and would make us personalized ornaments for Christmas each year! Linda will be missed!

This world has lost a great individual. Linda was a wonderful boss to have for so many years. One who was always very inspirational. Her friendship is one that cannot be replaced abd one I will always cherish. RIP my sweet friend.

My heart just broke when I heard of Linda’s passing. She guided me from positions in the MCH department and on occasion had to do my evaluations. I remember when I realized what a cool person she was. After that, I always loved seeing her in the NICU for a visit. I was so sad when she left Visalia, she was strict but that made the staff feel cared for. I hope you are soaring with the Angels Linda. My heart goes out to her family who I know dearly miss you. Love, Lynn

  4. I had the wonderful pleasure of working with Linda for many years. She was so funny and such a great person. She cared so much about her family, co workers, her employees and her patients. I also lived near her and would see her there as well. She loved her family so much, I enjoyed the stories of her nieces growing up. I know she is in heaven because she was an angel here. Thoughts and prayers to you her family.
