Obituary

On April 6, 2013, Linda Suzanne Stewart passed away at Virgina Mason Hospital in Seattle after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Linda was born on August 26, 1951 to Tom and Mary Stewart in Bellingham, WA. Linda graduated from Sehome High School in 1969, then from UW nursing school in 1973. Linda lived to be a nurse and loved her job. She started her nursing career at Shuksan Nursing Home at the age of 15.

Linda specialized in OB care, which took her from Bellingham, WA to Santa Rosa, CA, Sedro Woolley, WA, Beaumont, TX, Visalia, CA, and Ellensburg, WA. Along the way, she touched the lives of so many people, keeping in contact with them through the years. She was a great leader and took part in community services. While in California, Linda earned her Masters Degree from the University of Phoenix. She became part of the administration team while in Texas, and many of her employees regarded her as a great boss.

Linda loved her family and spending time with them, which was one reason she relocated to Ellensburg. She was always very supportive of her family and even inspired her niece, Amy, to become a nurse. Linda is survived by her mother Mary (Bill) Brough; brother Ron (Juile) Stewart; nieces Amy (Merritt) Washburn, and Alli (Tyler) Mitchell; nephew Tim (Angela) Stewart, and seven grand-nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed.

  1. I worked with Linda many, many years ago at St. Joe’s. We even were roommates for a while. She will be missed. My love and prayers go out to the faily

  2. Denise Karr says:

Linda was an awesome person and leader of the OB department at Kaweah Delta Hospital. Always thoughtful and compassionate. She never forgot a birthday or special occasion. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. RIP Linda.

  3. I’m saddened to learn of Linda’s death. I too had the pleasure of working with her at Kaweah Delta in Visalia. I think of the thousands of children in Visalia (and everywhere else she worked) whose safe and loving birth, care in a NICU or peds unit was because of Linda’s outstanding leadership and direction, her ability to recognize and mentor talented managers and staff, her extensive knowledge and her calm management of a very busy challenging specialty. She had incredible grace under pressure. She was a warm and loving, fiercely independent woman who loved her family deeply — including the dogs. Goodbye, dear one. Rest in peace. Kris

  4. Lynne Olson says:

I worked for Linda on L & D for years. Linda was a great boss, great leader and friend to us all. One of the things I remember most is her great love for her family. There were always pictures of them in her office. My prayers for her family during this time.

  5. So sorry to hear of Linda’s passing. I’m a nurse in labor and delivery I worked as a doula in this department while going to nursing school. Linda supported me through that time I am thankful that she allowed me to participate in the educational program offered through the hospital it kept me on staff here so that I could finish school successfully. She will be missed.
