Obituary

During the early morning hours of Sunday February 3, 2013, while sleeping in her bed, Peggy Linn went home to be with the Lord. She was 69.

Peggy was born August 16, 1943 in Anacortes, WA to Earl and Peggy Linn. The family moved to Bellingham soon after. She lived the majority of her life in Whatcom County.

A hard worker from an early age, she valued her many opportunities with employment, including being a housewife and mother, meter maid, hair dresser, longshoreman, and a crew member for Washington State Ferries. By obtaining her Merchant Marine certificate, she was able to work as a cook on ships for Arco and Crowley Intl.

In her later years, she thrived on her volunteer work. She cut inmates hair in Canada through the B.C. Prison ministries, ministered to the elderly in convalescent homes with her dog Bear, and volunteered as a tour guide in Ferndale at the Hovander Homestead.

Of all her volunteering, her passion was her work in Mexico where, over the years, she devoted her love and time to providing basic needs to the Tarahumara Indians.

Peggy is survived by daughter Teri, son Rob, foster daughter Amanda, sisters Sherry and Tammy, brother Earl, 8 grandchildren, 3 foster grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 8 nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, and her beloved Pomeranians. She will be deeply missed.

  1. I offer my deepest condolences to Aunt Peggy and her family, Though I never met her, she was still my great Aunt and I am sure she will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

  2. Earleen, I have absolutely no recollection whatsoever about saying anything to you about Peggy Ann. Of course, I have very little remembrance about anything. But, I am glad that you remembered it.
And regarding the diversity involvement, it’s true, I have absolutely no idea why I have such a passion for international people. I was asked to help at church with English as a Second Language lessons for some Chinese students, and immediately, I fell in love with them. Maybe it is something in the blood. I so wish I had discovered the passion in my early years.

Thanks for sharing Earleen and Wendy.

  3. Earleen says:

I am thinking of you all as you prepare for the services. You are in my heart and my prayers. Stick together and it will all be o.k.

  4. My memories go back to Larrabee School when two new girls (Sherry and Peggy) showed up. They would go on to become my sister, Diane, and my best friends. They lived near us and the hours we would spend together-staying overnight, playing games both inside and out, picking berries, being best friends. I remember Peggy was always so cute and from the pictures still was. Yes, Sherry and I would think Peggy and Diane were a nuisance sometimes, after all they were a whole year younger and wouldn’t understand! But I’ve precious memories of those years. Peggy is resting now and at peace. Our prayers for her children, Terri and Robbie, for her siblings, Sherry, Skip, as we knew him, and Tammy, and her grandchildren. Never forget God loves us all.

  5. We were so saddened to hear of Peggy Ann’s death. I did not have many opportunities to visit with her, but the times I did were so memorable. I’m sorry I did not get to meet her children. I pray God grant them and all the family comfort in these trying times. Cousin Jeannie (Aunt Frances’ daughter)
