Obituary

Monte L. Nieuwendorp, age 60, passed away on Thurs. Nov. 19, 2020. Monte was born June 18th, 1960 in Bellingham Washington and grew up in Whatcom County. He graduated from Meridian High School in 1980. He was a beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother, Nephew, Uncle, Son and Friend.

Monte worked for Sanitary Service Company for over 20 years. He was a lover of car shows, motorcycles, hot rods, and old school Rock n’ Roll. He was a member of the Mount Baker Motorcycle Club for years and had endless stories of Thursday nights spent at the racetrack with his kids. You could often find Monte in his shop toying with cars and listening to the radio. 

Monte was a friend to all. He had a contagious heart and the warmest of smiles. His door was always open for anyone in need. Monte never let you leave without letting you know how important you are and what you meant to him. Monte loved his kids more than anything.

He was proceeded in death by his Son Axl Markusen-Nieuwendorp, Mother Connie Nieuwendorp, Brother Troy Nieuwendorp, Grandma Elaine Crabtree AKA ‘Unclemama’, and Aunt Billie Crabtree.

He is survived and missed by his children: Brock Nieuwendorp, Amber Horn, and Jesse Nieuwendorp, along with three children he raised as his own, Jordan (Penina) Craig, Amanda (Garrett) Craig and David Craig. By his Grandchildren Michael, Cooper, Melanie and Macie, his Sister Mona Wilson, Niece Amy (Ryan) Wilson and Nephew Ryan (Bailey) Wilson, Great Nieces Olive Wilson and Winnie Wilson, Uncle John (Pam) Crabtree, Brother-in-law Tim Wilson, Father Rich (Carol) Nieuwendorp, and many other relatives.

A Celebration of Life will be held later when we can all gather together again. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting for donations to be made to The Monte Nieuwendorp Memorial Donation Fund to help with final expenses. Donations can be made at any local WECU location in the name of his sister, Mona Wilson.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Greenacres Memorial Park – 5700 Northwest Dr. Ferndale, WA. A reception will follow. You are all invited to come as you are; Carhartts and boots are most welcome.

    Oh my beloved friend, how my heart hurts that you have passed yet I cherish most our memories of all the laughter and love the talks the tears and long nights of silence when we were going through lifes battles, you’re smile and hug will never be forgotten nor the place that you hold in my heart monte. I came to love you as a best friend and you always looked out for me and silvano like a father. I cant cant believe this has happened but until time brings us together again REST IN PEACE.     Monte, you will be missed by many, not a day goes by I don’t think about your laugh, smile and how you touched so many. You are a person with a heart of gold. You always made people feel good that everything was going to be alright. You always made sure that they would forget their problems for a minute. Your place was a safe haven for some a place of love and laughter. I will forever miss you, forever!! San

    Gratitude to have known Monte. A bright light to all who knew him. Always greeted with a bear hug and a smile. My favorite outings were a Tina Turner concert,gathering of friends at picnics and of course both our love for corvettes. Driving down Chuckanut to Edison was always fun. Monte made a difference in a lot of peoples lives just by being himself. Blessings to his family at this time. Pamela

  5. I was so sad to hear of Monte passing. I have many fond memories of double dating with him and Kari in high school. Monte was such a sweetheart. He had the BEST smile and gave the best hugs! I will miss seeing him around. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. Rest In Peace, Monte. You will never be forgotten.
