Obituary

Dan “Danny” “Froney” Froneberger went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 8, 2015. He was the only child born to Mary Martha and William Froneberger in Maryville, TN.

Dan moved to Washington State when he was 16 years old to live with his grandparents, Raymond and Bertha “Granny” Rasar, whom he looked up to and who taught him how to live. He graduated from Sedro Woolley High School with the Class of 1959.

Dan is survived by his wife of 51years, Marilee (Russel) Froneberger; three children , David (Holly) Froneberger, Robin (Pete) Vanderende, and Ray (Sarah) Froneberger; nine grandchildren, Kira, Nate, Jordan, Carly, Bianca, Maddy, Ethan, Shawn and Jade; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins including Johnny Rasar who Dan thought of as his brother, the feeling was mutual. He is also survived by his Uncle Bud, Aunt Dot, Aunt Julia “Jualoma”, and Aunt Helen who was very special to him and numerous friends.

Dan was well known for his big, generous heart and contagious laugh. He would give the shirt off his back or hat off his head to whoever needed it. His friendly personality made him well-liked by everyone- a man who “never met a stranger.” He loved telling stories that over time grew into unforgettable tales. Spending time with loved ones and watching the grandkids grow up were among his favorite past times. Dan was always a “Southern Boy” appreciating his banana pudding and fried catfish.

His tooth was almost as sweet as him, with never a shortage of ice cream and cookies around the house. He loved vacationing in sunny Hawaii and spending time in Arizona after his retirement.

Dan was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping and fishing- even if he didn’t catch anything. His Sunday’s were spent in front of the TV watching the Seahawks during football season, a 12th man to the bone. Most importantly, he was grateful for his family and friends and all the things that God had given him.

A Celebration of Life for Dan will be held Monday, March 16, at 11:00 AM, at Moles in Ferndale, WA; graveside service to follow at Bow Cemetery.

The family wishes to invite you to their home at 4231 Cody Rd, Birch Bay, WA for a celebration of Dan’s life directly following the burial service, light refreshments will be served.

  2. Sorry for your loss.We met Dan and Marilee in Yuma, AZ,

  3. Dan, Dan, Dan. What have you gone and done now. It is a wonderful thing, that you wanted to go to heaven and “fix it up” before Marilee gets there, but you should have let us in on your plans. You will be missed down here, more than you could ever know. Missed by the woman who has loved you for over 50 years, missed by the kids you raised, missed by your grand kids, and by anyone who ever got the chance to know you. You had that big goofy grin and very loud unique laugh, that made anyone and everyone feel good. You would do anything for anybody or give anything you had to someone in need. You made the world a better place, just by being in it. I for one am so glad I got to be a part of your family. Rest in Peace Kind Man and don’t work to hard on fixin that place up cause I know Marilee will be just fine with it as long as your there. Until then, we will take good care of her. PS when you get there, look up my brother. He loves to fish :)
