Obituary

Steve Duane Oster, of Palmdale, CA was killed in a car accident in California on 11/17/12, the victim of a drunk driver. He was 49. He was born April 30th, 1963 in Centralia, WA to Rueben and Carol Oster.

The Osters moved to Bellingham, WA shortly after Steves birth and Steve grew up there, graduating from Sehome High School in 1982. Steve left Bellingham for Phoenix, AZ where he attended Phoenix Institute of Technology. He returned to Bellingham and with good friend Bill Forrester, formed a graffiti eradication company called Graffiti Knights. The weather in Bellingham wasnt conducive to growth in the graffiti eradication business, so Steve and Bill moved back to Phoenix to continue with the plan. Eventually other plans took over and Steve moved to Palmdale where he started working at a rapid prototyping company called Solid Concepts in Valencia, CA in 1996. Steve enjoyed showing his family the high tech facilities and sharing some of the more visible projects that Solid Concepts was involved in, which included models for commercials and movies. He also met many great friends there. In his time off, Steve enjoyed driving, working on his 1981 Porsche and working on his house and yard in Palmdale.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother Carol. Steve is survived by his father Rueben of Bellingham; brother Mike (Debby) and his two nieces Samantha and Erika of Mount Vernon, WA; half sister Sandi Andrus (Terry) of Winlock, WA and nieces Holli and Amber and their families.

  1. Mike Kincaid says:

Steve, I have tons of fond memories of you from our late teens/early twenties. Some of the best years! I still remember accelerating down I5 in that cool GTO of yours. Sweet ride. You are missed – one cool guy. Mike

  2. I wish I could have done it in person and I hope someday I still can but for now I raise this glass of home brew to you. Cheers to the friend I knew I would have had. Sorry I missed you. Until we can raise a glass together I will do the best I can to take care of things here. Love to all of the Osters, some of the best people on this earth! Cheers to you!

  3. 20 years of friendship. 400 viewings of every Seinfeld episode!, countless laughs, endless acts of kindness by you towards me, your family, your friends, your co-workers and sometimes, complete strangers.
No amount of words can be written to convey what you meant to this world, and those in it.

We started our friendship in 1992. We shall continue it at the right-hand side of God. I look forward to seeing you again. I really do. Until then, I’ll stay the course – be fair – be loyal – be honest – be friendly – be civil – stay my gregarious self – love as much as possible – and carry our mutual ‘good guy’ values forward to the next generation.

    Your eternal friend, Billy

  4. I want to express my sincere sympathy for the loss of Steve. I didn’t know him personally but I understand the pain of losing a loved one. I would like to share a couple thoughts that will hopefully bring you some comfort. In John 5:28,29 it gives us the promise of a resurrection when it says ” the hour is coming when all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out”, and then in 1 corinthians15:26 it calls death an enemy that will be brought to nothing. These two scriptures can give us hope and comfort, I hope that is the case for you. If you would like to know more please feel free to contact me.
    Sincerely B.Quintrall

  5. I am so sorry for all of the family, what a loss at such a young age, so much to be missed. It just makes me so mad that people can not be smarter than to hurt a family.like what took Steve’s life. Ruben, Mike, Debby, Samantha, Erika and all extended family, our thoughts are with you all. RIP Steve
