Obituary

Saret (Legend) Voeut passed away on January 8, 2023, at the age of 59.  He was born to Voeut Douan and Roeur Preul in Siem Riep, Cambodia on March 24, 1964.

He is survived by his wife Pheap Foeung of 31 years, daughter; Sophannie Nguyen, sons; Timothy Voeut, and Riatha Voeut, granddaughters; Valerie Nguyen, Averie Nguyen, Kassidie Nguyen, and Natalie Nguyen, brothers; Sare Voeut, and Tommy Kang, and sisters; Saroeut Voeut, and Sarah Kang, his nephews; Curtis Kim, Patrick Voeut, BJ Chunphakvenn, Matthew Chunphakvenn, Jayden Kang, and nieces; Cynthia Voeut and Isabella Kang.

Saret is preceded in death by his grandmother You Lai and uncle Hiet Lai.

After 6 years at a refugee camp in Thailand, the family was sponsored by members of St James Presbyterian Church, Gale and Gretchen Pfueller from Bellingham, WA on January 13, 1980. Years later at the ripe age of 17 started his career at Bornsteins Seafoods and retired in 2022 after 35 years.

He thoroughly enjoyed watching Korean and Japanese dramas, and sports; like basketball, football, soccer, and fishing, and idolized Bruce Lee.

His loved ones remember Saret as someone who loved to laugh, tell jokes, and stories, watch his son play basketball and most of all spend time with friends and family. He was always the life of the party. We’ll forever miss his smile and contagious laugh. Rest in Paradise.

A Memorial Service will be held for Saret on Saturday, January 14 at 3:30 pm, Moles Farewell Tributes, Bayview Chapel, 2465 Lakeway Drive, Bellingham, WA 98229.

Condolences to Pheap and Savann, I came across the picture of Saret and remember working with him occasionally when the family owned VR Thai over 20 years ago. A very kind and humble man. I still remember him. May God comfort the family.
