Obituary

Robert L. Sorensen, Jr. died peacefully in his home on February 5, 2016 at the age of 100 with his son Neil and Kurin (fiance’) by his side. Robert is preceeded in death by his wife Lillian, and son David.

He is survived by his sons: Robert E (Arlene) of Laurel, Jim (Christine) of Lynden, and Neil (Kurin) of Laurel, daughter-in-law Linda (David) of Bellevue, grandchildren Kevin, Brian, Chad, Jillian, Lindsey, Brett and Ingrid and numerous great-grandchildren. Born and raised in the family home in Laurel, he started farming with his dad using a team of horses, steam engines, and later by tractor.

A graduate of Meridian in 1933, he went to UW where he met his wife of 67 years, Lillian (deceased). He later became a truck driver and then the owner of MSM Hauling. He had a passionate love for steam engines and was a big part of Puget Sound Antique Association. He was a member of Laurel Church for 100 years, where he devoted his life to Christ.

He will be greatly missed by his family and everyone that knew him. He was a hardworking man until his late 90’s and was mowing the lawn in the summer of 2015, blindly!

Memorial service will be held February 20th at 11:00 am at Laurel Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Laurel Church.
