Obituary

Norma Kathryn Kremser, age 72, passed away on September 1, 2017 in Bellingham, Washington, 14 months after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Norma was born in Bellingham, Washington on March 12, 1945, to Clarence and Genevieve (Dunagan) Mostue, and she grew up on a farm at Ferndale, Washington. After graduation from Ferndale High School, Norma joined the U.S. Air Force and served at bases in Texas, New York and New Jersey. In July 1964 she married Melvin Kremser Jr., and they lived in New Jersey and Colorado before moving to Ferndale.

Norma was an avid quilt maker and counted cross stitch artist. Her work was awarded a number of blue and other colored ribbons at the Northwest Washington Fair. Norma also enjoyed traveling (especially by cruise ship), baking, reading, researching her geneology, raising flowers, monthly lunches with high school classmates, and the companionship of pet cats and dogs through the years. Norma worked at the Western Washington University Library prior to working for the Whatcom County Library System as an acquistions librarian. She retired in 2009 after more than 30 years of service. Norma belonged to the Ferndale Heritage Society and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Ferndale.

Predeceased by her parents and her husband, Norma is survived by her sister, Adelle Korn of Oro Valley, Arizona, as well as cousins in several states and devoted friends. On Friday, September 22, 2017, inurnment of Norma’s ashes, with military honors, will take place at 1 p.m., at Enterprise Cemetery, 7041 Vista Drive, Ferndale. A Celebration of Life service will be at 2 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 5904 Vista Drive, Ferndale, followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall.
