Obituary

Mildred Maxine Sparman (Nelson), born May 18th, 1925, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 18th, peacefully and surrounded by family. Mildred was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband of 62 years, John Sparman (deceased February 13th, 2007). She is survived by her five children, Karen (Roy) Teeter, Dave (Estrid) Sparman, Terri (Keith) Marshall, Sandi (Brad) Marshall, and Linda (Richard) Palmer, her 11 grandchildren and her 16 great-grandchildren.
Mildred was a lifelong resident of Bellingham and a member of Northside Community Church since childhood. During WWII, she worked at Boeing, as a Rosie the Riveter.
One of three children, Mildred is survived by her sister, Thelma Burwick and preceded in death by her sister, Esther Rey. Just recently, Mildred reminisced about times spent with her sisters being silly and having fun.
When we think of Mildred, we think of her beautiful garden, her amazing pies, her love for all God’s creatures, and her servant’s heart. Those who knew her will remember her love for feeding everyone, including her own dogs (and even some stray ones), and later in life, enjoying a summer breeze on her back porch amongst colorful flowers. She loved all and was loved by all.
Mildred dedicated herself to raising her own children, but also raised and loved many foster children. The impact she had on these young men and women in the foster care system is still felt in their lives today.
Her family takes great comfort knowing she is in Heaven. Her quick wit, sense of humor, and loving smile will truly be missed.
Services for Mildred will be held at Northside Community Church on Monday, November 23rd at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to CAMA Services, Northside Community Church, or Whatcom Hospice. Please share your memories at wordpress-271002-1416095.cloudwaysapps.com

I’m so sorry for your loss! Did you know that soon you’ll be reunited with your loved again! The bible says at John 5:28,29… “Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to resurrection of life… How comforting that is to be with your loved one again! www.JW.org
