Obituary

Lorena Elaine (Harriman) Prater

On May 8, 2022, Lorena went to join our Lord in Heaven. A devout Christian, Lorena loved God’s word; she felt his presence in her life always.

Lorena was born to Garry and Darlene Harriman on December 1, 1978, in Bellingham, WA. She graduated from Bellingham High School in 1997.

On June 19, 2010, she married her love, Sean Prater, in Ferndale WA.

Lorena loved her community and was active with Special Olympics, Camp Horizon, Camp TEAM, the Max Higbee Center and many other groups. At home, she and her husband shared a joy of knitting, crocheting, nature walks, and laughing together.

While she had a long history of working in the caregiving field, Lorena also tried her hand at office work, janitorial, computers and food service.

Lorena loved to learn. Her memory was amazing! In 2008, she set herself to learn to drive; in 2015, she purchased her own car. Lorena enriched Sean’s life in so many ways. Together, they traveled, they explored, they learned. With faith in the Lord, and their shared loved, they overcame and thrived in their life. She shared her enjoyment of old television series such as Bonanza, All in the Family, and Good Times (LaVerne & Shirley became their favored nickname).

Lorena is survived by her husband Sean Prater, her mother Darlene Harriman, and her brother Mark (Heidi) Oostra.

The family requests flowers in the form of plantable perennials be sent to Mole’s Funeral Home in Ferndale WA or to the Prater’s residence. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Max Higbee Center are suggested (MaxHigbee.org).

A celebration of life at Moles Farewell Tributes on Main Street in Ferndale will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 3PM.

    1. Darlene, Mark, Heidi and all who knew and loved Lorena. Our hearts just go out to all of you as you go on without Lorena. But take comfort knowing she is in her FOREVER HOME in HEAVEN with her dad and brother Jeremy, and all loved ones who went before her, and we will all join her in God’s timing!
Love to you~from both of us,
      Hank & Kathy
