Obituary

Juergen “Joe” Stollberg, age 84, passed away on April 22, 2018. Juergen was born on April 12, 1934 in Braunschweig, Germany to Karl and Hilda (Hubner) Stollberg. He attended school in Germany. He married Janice Brekke on March 18, 1961 in New Westminster, BC Canada. Juergen was a loving, caring, hardworking and stubborn man. He had a variety of occupations including mason, contractor, aircraft mechanic, aircraft inspector and small business owner. Joe loved sailing, cruises, camping and snow birding in Arizona. Janice’s fondest memory of her husband was spending time snow birding in Arizona with him. Joel’s favorite memory of his dad was when he was young, his dad took him to Disneyland and waited 3 hours to go on the submarine. 3 weeks ago, Joel and his family went to Disneyland and he called his dad to tell him that the wait was only 90 minutes and having a good laugh about it. John’s favorite memory of his dad is camping and sailing with him most, but a single event would have to be the first prank his dad ever pulled on him, jacking up his car so he couldn’t drive off on his wedding day. Juergen is survived by his wife, Janice; sons, Joel and John; daughters-in-law, Lauri and Oksana; grandchildren, Jenna, Joshua, Jacob and Annika; step-grandchildren, Maxim and Valeriia; brothers, Ulrich and Herman; sisters, Melsena and Uta; and 14 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Hilda Stollberg and nephew Juergen Stollberg. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 28, at 2:00pm at Triumph Lutheran Church in Ferndale.
