Obituary

Jospeh Cemnens Finkbonner, age 90, of Lummi, passed away on May 6, 2019. Born to John and Helen Finbonner and spent most of his life at Lummi. Joe had a colorul fulfilling life being a Golden Glove Winner in boxing. He spent 2 years in San Francisco learning the skills of a diesel mechanic. He spoke often of his travels in the United States Coast Guard. He spent a large part of his life on the water as he was a Fisherman, Merchant Marine, Puse Seiner. He was most excited about his trip through the Panamna Canal. he also was a founder of the Lummi Aquaculture Project. He went to Oregon State University to study Aquaculter.Joe worked at the Lummi Nation Fish Hatchery at Skookum Creek and also the oyster ponds. His love for the water was evident in every aspect of his life.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents John and Helen Finkbonner; brother John Finkbonner Jr.; nephew Paul Finkbonner and significant other of 17 years Clarissa Finkbonner (Young). He is survived by step-daughter Erline Hansen; 5 grandchildren and numerous cousins.

A funeral service will be Saturday, May 18, at 9:30am at Greenacres Memorial Park, 5700 Northwest Dr., Ferndale, WA 98248.
