Obituary
John Wesley Elvig, age 74, passed away on June 22, 2021 in Oak Harbor, Washington.
John was born on September 29, 1946 in Bellingham, Washington to parents Kenneth Cochran Elvig and Margaret Masterson Elvig.
He grew up in Bellingham and graduated from Bellingham High School in 1964. John served in the United States Navy when he was a young adult. He had two daughters: Angela Gresham who was born in 1967 and Anissa Bower who was born in 1974.
John enjoyed computers and was a self-taught computer technician. He even taught computer classes to others who needed the help.
John is predeceased by his parents Kenneth and Margaret Elvig, his brother Paul Masterson Elvig, and nephew Jason Elvig. He is survived by his daughters Angela (Tracy) Gresham and Anissa Bower, brothers Jim (Nancy) Elvig and Dan Elvig, his sister-in-law LaDonna Elvig, as well as his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
John will be laid to rest at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale, WA.
Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, the Wounded Warrior Project, or the Whatcom Hospice Foundation.

Once when we were kids, John and I were in Newberry’s on Cornwall Avenue. He saw me admiring a toy truck on a shelf behind a counter and using his own money, he bought it for me on the spot. I will miss my big brother very much.

John and I were twin brothers and I’m sure we gave our parents a lot to be concerned about. What one of us didn’t think of the other did. We were typical boys who were so blessed to be raised by godly parents who loved us and insisted on structure ( which included mandatory church ) in the home. John and I were so glad at this stage of our lives to draw on their guidance, especially when John realized he was terminal. Mom and Dad would have been thrilled to see John’s faith. John is with the LORD now and our parents, brother Paul and nephew Jason. John we’ll always love you and remember you……brother Jim.

I am so sorry John is gone. He is not in pain now. I just loved his sense of humor and his sense of wonder. I will miss him.
