Obituary

John Robert (Bob) Klander, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away Thursday, November 22,2012 He was born on January 13, 1938 in Bellingham to John and Elizabeth Klander. He attended Meridian Grade School and Mt. Baker Jr. and Senior High School graduating with the class of 1956. While in high school he joined the Naval Reserve and after graduation he went into active duty spending most of his time aboard the USS McGinty.

After his discharge from the Navy he returned to Bellingham and went to work for Puget Sound Pulp and Timber Co, which later became Georgia Pacific.

On September 9th 1960 he married Mary Heggem. He retired from Georgia Pacific in 1999 after 40 years. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and gardening.

His parents and his grandson, Aaron Klander, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife Mary; sons Ken Klander (Tracie) of Pasco, Dave Klander (Gennie) of Longview, Mike Klander and daughter Carol Klander of Bellingham; grandchildren Robert and Michael Klander and their mother Theresa Klander. Isaac, Seth and Adam Klander, Steven Ortiz, Maria Ortiz Zamudio (Joel), Kyle, Spencer and Shanti Clark; great-Grandchildren Nathen Klander, Anthony and Jacob Zamudio, Taylor Swanson, and AdanHines; brothers Jim Klander (Verylen) Rick Klander (Sue); sisters Nona Klander, Nadine Tigner (Ira) and Mary Postlewait (Pete); and many nieces and nephews.

Donations in his memory can be made to Whatcom Hospice.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 10:00 AM followed by a graveside service at 11:00 AM, at Greenacres Memorial Park, 5700 Northwest Dr. in Ferndale.
