Obituary

Jerry Arestad, age 72 passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon December 11th 2012 at Whatcom Hospice House with his family by his side.

Jerry was born September 7th 1940 in Bellingham to Norris and Virginia Arestad. He graduated from Ferndale High School in 1959 and married Maureen in May 1993.

He served as a sheet metal worker with Northwest Sheet Metal Workers Local 66 retiring from the trade in 2002. Jerry was a very hard working man. Born and raised on a dairy farm he spent his lifetime farming raising dairy heifers and beef cattle. He enjoyed dancing, trail riding, fishing, hunting and training his dogs. He loved the outdoors and became an avid pheasant hunter during his retirement. His last season was very special. Hunting and reminiscing with his sons reaching all 129 of his goals until ten days before he passed. He had many wonderful personal attributes that made him respected and loved by all who knew him.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves to mourn at home his loving wife and their two adorable Labrador retrievers Sadie and Spanky. He is survived by one sister Diana (Don) Hanson, his four sons Rick (Heather), Ron, Ryan (Michele) and Randy, two stepsons Clint and Jeff, grandchildren: Nicholas, Zach, Katie, Breawna, Landon, Cory, Andy, Ryley, Aidan and Liam.

A celebration of Jerrys life will be held Monday December 17th at 1:00 PM at Cornerstone Community Church, 5732 Olson Road in Ferndale.

The family wishes to thank the amazing team at Whatcom Hospice for their support and loving care over the past few months. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Whatcom Hospice Foundation, 2901 Squalicum Pkwy, Bellingham WA 98225.   1. I would like to send my condolences to the family and friends of Jerry. He will be sorely missed by all. Hopefully the words found at revelation 21:4 will be of some comfort to you. It says “and he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” This is a promise that we can all look forward to. I’m so sorry for your loss.

  2. Went to school with Jerry. He was a year ahead of me. Was always a good Friend. Had not seen Jerry, in a lot of years, but had ask about him at our classmate lunch, not log ago. Sorry to hear, we lost another GOOD, guy! Frank Sanders

  5. Sorry 4 your loss. n the early 50`s spent part of 2 summers on the farm.We had some fun times, Uncle Huck said we would have more fun pulling Mustard than going 2 the fair. Was a good learning experience. Something you never foreget.Best 2 all.
