Obituary

James Cecil Kaufman, age 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 24, 2022. James was born on September 18, 1930 in Riverside, WA. He was the son of Lawrence and Olga Kaufman.

James will be greatly missed by his surviving family, Daughters Cherie (Tom) Kjorlaug, Debbie Kaufman (Roger Hanson), Kathy (Ray) Selnes; Brother Fred (Mary) Kaufman; Grandchildren Miranda Selnes, Trevor Selnes, Lindsey Selnes, Nicole Kjorlaug (Shawn Wolf), Tommy (Kailea) Kjorlaug, Krysta (Donald) McCall; Great-Grandchildren Riley, Carly, Briella, Santana, Austin, Jackson, Easton and many loving relatives and friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joy, sisters Edna, Mildred, Edith and Ada.

James graduated from Okanogan High School in 1948. He met the love of his life Joy, and they were married on November 17, 1956, and began their life together. James served in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1973. They traveled around to several military locations: Maine, Utah, Mississippi, Alaska, Oregon, and finally stationed in Blaine which brought the family back home to Washington State. James then worked for the Department of Natural Resources in Sedro-Woolley for 20 years and retired in 1996.

James was an active Ham Operator for over 65 years. His call sign was W7UMH. He was also a member of the Mt. Baker Amateur Radio Club.

We are remembering James with a Celebration of Life Service at 1 pm, Friday, February 11th, 2022 at Moles Farewell Tributes Chapel at Bayview in Bellingham. Burial at 2:00 pm. Gathering following burial service.

James was a Precious Gift from God and our Hero.
