Obituary

Ethel Hawkins, age 99, resided at St. Francis nursing home in Bellingham and passed away Feb. 12, 2017.
Mrs. Hawkins was born Sept. 12, 1917 in Cedaredge, CO to Lysle and Bessie Brooks. She lived in Colorado, California, Colorado, Alaska, Bellingham, and back to Colorado where she met and married Herman Hawkins on Dec. 25, 1940. In 1953, they moved with their family to Anacortes where they operated Hawkins Grocery on Monroe Street for 11 years (1963-1974). Ethel was a long-time member of Hillcrest Chapel.
Preceding her in death is her husband, Herman Hawkins, in 1984.
Survivors include her four children, LeRoy (Vickie) Hawkins of Lynden, Marvin (Linda, deceased 2016) Hawkins of Bellingham, Florence (Richard) Dandliker of Bellingham, and Gary (Patty) Hawkins of Lynden; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A family graveside was held at Greenacres Memorial Park with Pastor Brady Bobbink officiating.
