Obituary

Elizabeth Laverty passed away on Tuesday morning of an apparent heart attack. The youngest daughter of the late Bernard (Bernie) Laverty and Margurerite (Sullivan) Laverty, ”E.A.” was a the youngest of her generation and the youngest of five siblings. She attended Ferndale schools, the Lysee d’Francais of Los Angeles and Highline College. After a few years at home she moved to the East Coast where she took care of her boyfriend through his final illness and subsequently his mother until she died last summer. She then returned to Ferndale to care for her own mom to whom she had just served breakfast when she had her attack.

As a child E.A. was a constant companion of her father as he made the rounds of the sporting events in the Ferndale area. As she said, “That was the best time to talk with him”. As an adult she was an unapologetic fan of all the Boston area teams especially the Patriots. You always knew where she would be on Sunday after church……. in front of the TV rooting for Tom Brady to pull off a last minute win yet again.

She is survived by her mother, and three brothers – Mike, Dan and Sean, a sister – Mary, nieces – Amber Benton, Meaghan (Laverty) Sutherby, Katy Laverty and nephew – James Benton.

A funeral mass will be said on Wednesday April 19th at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ferndale.

  1. Amber Benton says:

May God guide you and keep you in heavens love beyond the gates of his kingdom. Words mean more than what is set down on paper. It takes the human voice to infuse them with shades of deeper meaning. Godbless you all. So sorry Grandma L.
