Elice “Bud” Haynes 83, of Custer, passed away peacefully at Highland Health and Rehab center on November 18, 2018

Bud was born the 3rd of 12 siblings in Olean, NY. The family owned a farm and Bud learned all about taking care of the animals. His dad worked for Mobile Oil. When the New York plant closed down, he transferred to Mobile Oil in Ferndale where Bud and his siblings spent the rest of their childhood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two older sisters, Rosemarie Holmes in 2017 and Myrtle Kilpatrick in September 2018. Bud is survived by seven brothers; Chester, Charles, Thomas, Jack, Robert, David, and Paul Haynes; sisters, Sue Haynes and Katherine Piontek; and many nephews and nieces.

When Bud was younger, he worked dairy farms in Whatcom County, including for Timmerman. his duty was to feed all the calves, sometimes having to care for 60-80 at a time! He worked at Ed Pomeroy farm until he retired.

Bud loved animals, especially his cat, and enjoyed Country music. He always participated in the Custer Days Parade and loved riding his bike out on the county roads. Something special Bud did for his church was to collect aluminum cans which he donated all the proceeds to the youth group. Thanks to Bud, his friends from Custer United Methodist would go to Highland Health a Rehab to sing and visit with the residents.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018 at 11:00am with Pastor Bing Canlas officiating at Custer United Methodist Church (2996 Main St, Custer, WA 98240).
