Obituary
Edward J. Brown, age 91, of Bellingham, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016. Edward was born on January 6, 1925 in Bellingham, WA to Ernest and A. Hope Brown. He served in the Army in the 95th Infantry Division where he was an Infantry Rifle Scout under General Patton.
Ed graduated from Western Washington State College and began his career as a teacher and later becoming a principal. He was employed for 31 years with the Bellingham School District.
Ed was an avid pilot proudly owning a J3 Piper Cub. Ed also loved to tinker. He was a Scoutmaster of Troop 21 with the Boy Scouts of American for 11 years. He belonged to the Bellingham Central Lions Club for over 30 years. He was the past MD 19H District Governor. He and John Munroe had a radio show that aired on KGMI for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 69½ years Betty Jean Brown; sons James (Margaret) Brown and Steve (Rebecca) Brown; daughter Liesa (Marty) Krause; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and brother Elbert A. Brown.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 16, at 11:00 AM at Moles Farewell Tributes – Bayview Chapel, 2465 Lakeway Dr., Bellingham.
Memorials may be made to Whatcom Hospice, a Lion’s Club Charity of your choice or The Peace Health Cancer Center.
