Obituary

Dawn Marie Finch, age 54, passed away in her home on December 17 surrounded by friends and family after a long battle against ovarian cancer. Dawn was born to Laman and Nancy (DuPuis) Bruce on January 25, 1965 in Portsmouth, Virginia. She graduated from Ferndale High School in 1983 and joined the Navy where she met her amazing husband Randale Finch. Dawn & Randy were married in 1986 and had three children.

She is survived by her beloved husband Randy; her son Chris; her daughter Ashley and her husband Mikey; her son Richard and his wife Alyssa along with her precious grandchildren Aiden, Ryan, Elizabeth and Josephine. She is also survived her parents Laman and Nancy, sister Melissa, brother Randell, niece Mallory and many more friends and family who she loved dearly. Dawn also is survived by her loving Church family at Ferndale Alliance Church where she was a member for twenty one years.

Dawn was the most fun woman you will ever meet and lived a life that many people dream of – full of adventure. She loved to go camping in places where there was no electricity, she enjoyed snorkeling in Hawaii and jumped out of a “perfectly good airplane”. But more than anything she loved sharing these adventures with her friends and family. She was in the business of making memories and she did so to the fullest.

Although the family is mourning the loss of this Wonder Woman they are celebrating the fact that she has complete victory in Christ Jesus her Lord and Savior. Dawn had a unique ability to bring people together and will continue to be a light to this world.

Please join us in celebrating Dawn’s life Friday, January 17,  at 4:30pm at the  Pioneer Pavilion Community Center Ferndale, WA,  with a Luau reception to follow.

  1. Andi Manos says:

Dawn was a one of a kind woman. She was so fun, warm, funny, caring, purposeful, adventurous and a second mother to my children as well as many others. She was like a big sister to me and I will miss her. The Finch and Bruce families have lost an incredible soul. More than the loss of her here, how ever, is the faithful legacy she leaves behind and the peace, comfort and love she has now in the presence of Jesus Christ. She will always be in our hearts and part of our Light.

  2. Dawn was an amazing woman and lived life to the fullest. Because she joined the Navy and opened her home to me, I had the opportunity to move to San Diego where she was stationed. This is where I met my amazing husband of over 30 years. Dawn will always hold a special place in my heart. May God’s peace wash over Randy, her kids and grandkids and all her friends and family.

  3. So very sorry for your loss Randy. Peace and love to you and family.
