Obituary
David (Dave) Henry Braun died suddenly at home on January 29, 2018. Dave came to Whatcom County from Joliet, IL. He was a teacher at Lummi Nation School where he taught Science and Traditional Arts for more than 20 years. In addition to those subjects, he was passionate about history. He loved spending time outdoors or working on various projects in his garage. He was also an accomplished artist with paintings ranging from small canvases to entire walls. Some of his murals can be seen at the Two Medicine Dinosaur Center in Bynum, MT, where he spent many summers fossil-hunting with his friend Dave Trexler; and on walls throughout Lummi Nation High School.
Dave is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Jacqueline A. Braun; cherished cousin Nancy (Frank) Principe of Anacortes and numerous relatives throughout the country; and dear friend Andy Ward and many adored friends. He will be remembered as a devoted friend of the Lummi Nation.
Per Dave’s wishes, there will be no funeral services.

Rest in peace to one of my favorite teachers ive ever had. You taught us the world of science and you made us all fall in love with it and art. Youve taught 6 out of 7 of my siblings and we all enjoyed going to school to your class. Youve left some beautiful artwork in some places, and helped us create some in our school hallways. Youve impacted many of us kids in a big way. We are definitely going to miss you at Lummi Nation Mr Braun. You’ll forever be in our hearts and you’ll forever be a Blackhawk.
