Obituary

David was an avid commercial fisherman and musician. He traveled all over the county and Canada doing what he loved, playing music. His drums were set up ready for him to play everyday until the day he was gone. Not too many people get to say they did what they loved most in life until they died, but he did.

David was a Vietnam Veteran who served from ’67-’68. For many years, David was an avid member of the Combat Veterans International (CVI), donating his time, hard work, and music for non-profit fundraising which included putting together, organizing, and playing music himself in Blues to Benefit the Brave music festival and fundraiser for four consecutive years, along with the many other gigs performed throughout the years all over Washington to raise awareness and funds for ALL veterans.

On July 3, 2018, surrounded by family and friends who loved him dearly, David died after a long and hard-fought battle with Cancer, COPD, and many respiratory illnesses that he pushed through for so long.

David Auld Anderson Chapman Jr. was born on January 1, 1949 and is survived by his wife, Brenda Chapman; son, John Robert Chapman; daughter, Kara Richardson; son, Gavin Chapman; son, Michael Gates; daughters, Alicia and Mary Gates; and his grandchildren, Zachary, Aryanah, Kierra, David, Brayden, Eva, Ewan, and Tallyn. He is preceded in death by his father, David A. A. Chapman Sr., mother, Mary Lou Plumb; brother, Robbie Chapman; and granddaughter, Elorah.

David was the strongest most brave person we’ve ever known and was the MOST loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend anyone could ever want or need. He is LOVED so much and will be missed dearly.

A celebration of David’s life will take place on Saturday, July 14th at 2PM at Moles Farewell Tributes Greenacres (5700 NW Dr. Ferndale, WA 98248).
