Obituary

Darrell M. Burger, age 87, of Bellingham, passed away on September 14, 2016. Darrell was born on January 28, 1929 in Bellingham to Merle and Mabel Burger. He graduated from Bellingham High School where he was a member of the Alumni Association. Darrell was proud of his Military service in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post 7. He was a license examiner for the Washington State Patrol, working in Seattle and Bellingham. After retiring from there, he worked as a Custodian Supervisor of Building Services at WWU. Darrell is survived by his nephew Douglas Burger. He is also survived by his second family Gloria VanMoorhem, Laura VanMoorhem Lindhout (Jon) and family and Erin VanMoorhem. He will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank Shuksan Nursing Home and staff for their care and patience with Darrell and support to the family. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 30 at 11:00 AM at Greenacres Memorial Park 5700 Northwest Dr., Ferndale. Memorials may be made to Whatcom Hospice or American Legion Post 7.
