Obituary

Charles Eugene Butenschoen passed away peacefully on November 11, 2022 at the age of 91. Born on May 13, 1931 in Milbank, South Dakota, he was the 7th of 11 children to George and Sophia Butenschoen. The family moved to Bellingham, WA in the early 1950’s.

Chuck proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning home from Bellingham, Chuck married the love of his life, Betty Wilson. They were blessed with three children and built their forever home on Smith Rd. Chuck worked as a glazier for Morse Hardware and later owned his own glass company. Retirement held many travel adventures for Chuck and Betty. They loved jetting off to Hawaii as well as hooking up their fifth wheel and exploring the United States. In his spare time, you could find him in his barn rebuilding tractors, tending to his garden, or soaking up the sun on his front porch while watching his grandkids play in the pasture.

He is preceded in death by his wife Betty, son Rich, parents George and Sophia Butenschoen, brothers George, Oscar, Bob, LeRoy, and sister Alma. Chuck is survived by his son Matt (Lori), daughter Susan, his grandchildren Ashley (Kenneth), Nick, Kelsey (Gabe), and Joseph (Cassie), and great-granddaughters Makayla, Lexie, Evelyn, Abby, and Jordyn.
