Obituary
Jean passed away July 10, 2013; she was born February 4, 1926 in Limon, CO. to Vivian Douglas and Grace Carlton Douglas Witte. Her younger years were spent in Limon, CO. then the family moved to Whatcom County in 1932. She graduated from Ferndale High School in 1944 where she excelled in baseball as a catcher, which she was then drafted by the Bellingham Bells during WWII.
After the war at a dance, she met the love of her life Joseph F. Moser of Ferndale. They were married June 26, 1946 and celebrated the next 67 years together. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; grandson Tommy Holtrop; and son-in-law Ted Christie. She is survived by her loving husband Joe; children Janet Christie of Ferndale, Joyce (Bill) Lorenz of Twisp; Julie (Albert) Hanes of Winthrop; Joe (Cheryl) Moser of Bellingham; and Jaleen (Steve) Bacon of Ferndale; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister Mildred Daniels of Oregon City, OR; and numerous nephews and nieces; sisters-in-law; and 1 brother-in-law.
Mom had a passion for baking, canning, gardening, bowling, camping, card playing, fishing, and hunting with close friends. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lynden and then Ferndale. She belonged to St. Marys Guild in Ferndale. In later years, Joe and Jean traveled extensively. Jean was also active in Joes 4th Corner Chapter Ex-POW group of Washington State. Mom along with dad were avid Seattle Seahawks and Mariner fans.
Farewell Tribute Information
A Rosary Service will be Wednesday, July 17, at 6:30 PM at Moles Farewell Tributes Main St. Ferndale followed by a visitation at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be Thursday, July 18, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ferndale. Donations Information
