Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Anna Maria “Resi” Alvarado announces her sudden and unexpected passing on September 20, 2017 at the age of 76 years old. Resi will be lovingly remembered by her ever faithful husband of 56 years, Raul. She is also survived by her sister Gabriella Quaresima, brothers Alessandro (Natalia) Boaro, Lino (Ottaviana) Boaro, Ugo (Andreina) Boaro, and Franco Boaro, all of Italy; children Margaret Starr, Rafael (Lori) Alvarado, and Giuseppe Alvarado; grandchildren Angela Grantham, Candice Hoback, Carli Alvarado, Bethany Alvarado, Cameron Alvarado, David Alvarado, Dominique Alvarado-Holden, Brennin Alvarado-Holden, and Adrianna Starr; and five great grandchildren. Resi was preceded in death by her beloved son Raul (Rudy) Alvarado Jr., and her dear sister Adalgisa Trull.

Resi was born in the Northern Italian village of Mussolente where she grew up as working hard to help her family through the post WWII recovery. At the young age of 17, she met her future American husband, Raul, who was serving in the First Missile Command at Camp Ederle in Vicenza Italy. She then immigrated to the United State and on May 5, 1961, in Fort Campbell Kentucky, she married Raul. After having two children, the family moved to Chicago Illinois where, she had two more children. A change of jobs lead the family to Bellingham WA then Ferndale WA where Resi and Raul raised their family and resided for the next 40 years. For many years Resi worked for the Ferndale School District and was known as the “lunch lady” at Vista Middle School and Ferndale High School, from where she retired.

Resi was an exceptional loving housewife and a self-sacrificing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be remembered by her family, friends and community for her incredible generosity, extraordinary cooking, as a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, and a compassionate counselor. She loved collecting antiques, meeting people, and gathering her family for holiday meals and events.

  4. I am so sorry to hear of your great loss. Recently I lost my dear mother, and foundgreat comfort in the Holy Bible, like at Isaiah 25 verse 8 – “The Sovereign Lord will
swallow up death forever, and wipe away the tears from all faces.” Also at
Revelation 21 verse 4, we find God’s promise to remove both pain and death.
