Shirley Elaine "GG" Brehm

Our treasured and beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother (“GG”) went to be with her Lord at the age of 92. Her family was her greatest blessing, and she was so thankful to have them all in her life. Her faith in God was the foundation for her life and she was a living example of His caring compassion and love. She truly showered her family and friends with kindness, joy, and beautiful smiles, making us all better for having known her. Shirley Elaine Brehm was born to Harry and Theresa Barnes on March 13th, 1932, in Topeka, Kansas. She had two older sisters who were her best friends and confidants. Shirley was the pistol of the trio, as they formed bonds and experiences that lasted all their lives. After moving to California, Shirley married Gilbert Martin Brehm in 1952, while he was serving in the Air Force. They then returned to his hometown of Bellingham, WA to raise an addition of four. Susan (Alan) Dopf, Ronald (Wendy) Brehm, Robert (Ayanna) Brehm, and Theresa Brehm Ludtke. We always knew mom was there whenever needed, to listen, love or lend support. Her quick wit and dry humor surprised us all, right up to the end. Shirley’s love of hospitality was a gift and was evident in the many meals she carefully prepared for family and friends. The holiday table was always perfectly set and adorned with décor and delicious food. She never forgot a birthday, anniversary or special occasion and thoughtfully sent an encouraging card to let them know they were valued. Shirley and Gil loved to cruise and spent many vacations around the world with her sisters and their spouses. They also enjoyed down home picnics and camping at Birch Bay. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Gilbert Brehm in 2009 and her son Robert Brehm in 2023. She is survived by three of her children, Susan, Ronald and Theresa, nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed and forever cherished in our hearts. The family and friends of Shirley Brehm are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service, which will be held at Moles Farewell Tributes – Bayview Chapel (2465 Lakeway Dr. Bellingham, WA. 98229) on Friday, June 28th at 11:00 AM, with a celebration of life to follow.
