Obituary

Sharon Lucille Wakeley passed away on April 14, 2018 in Bellingham WA with her family by her side. The daughter of John Henry Setzer and Mary Jane Setzer (Van Eaton) born on December 27, 1943 in Eatonville WA. When WWII was over Sharon and her parents moved to Bellingham, WA.

Sharon’s number one priority was taking care of her handicapped son Robert, being his caregiver for most of her life. She dedicated her life to raising her children. She was an active mom when her kids were younger taking them camping, fishing, spending a lot of time outdoors and taking the kids to church.

Sharon enjoyed so many things from being outside working in her yard, spending time with her grandchildren. Watching the wild life in her yard. She loved her birds and squirrels and hated those blue jays. She had a vacation cabin at Lake Tyee where she and Robert spent a lot of their time. They enjoyed sitting back watching and hearing the wild life, feeding raccoons, squirrels, birds, and Yes, even a bear.

She will be remembered and missed for the love she had for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her amazing goodie bags on the holidays. For her out spoken mind with no filters. The love she had for the wildlife and the animals. Sharon always had the heart for the underdogs. She had no problem being a mom for anyone that needed a mom or being a grandma to any kids that joined the family. She had one of the biggest hearts and she a lot of love to share.

Sharon is preceded in death by parents John and Mary Jane Setzer; sister Cheryl Ann Starbuck and her son Robert Wakeley.

She is survived by her brother John Setzer; sister Karen Gustafson; sons Jim Wakeley and Art Bailey; daughters Cheryl Hendricks, Judy Chartier, Sandra Griffin and Christy Porter;17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

  3. I only had the pleasure of meeting Sharon a couple of times, but the one time will never be forgotten in my mind. Sitting in her living room as a penny flew by my head and hit the window! Scared me the crap out of me damn blue jays lol. My condolences to all of you i know she will be deeply missed.

  4. I am so sorry to hear the loss of our dear Sharon. I had spent many a day with Robert at my home along with Sharon coming to find him. Sharon and Robert are well known to be such cool people, very loving and caring for everyone they crossed paths with. Sharon will be missed so much, yet she is now with her baby boy Robert, whom she so lovingly devoted her care to for so many years.

I still miss you, Grandma. I miss playing board games at the cabin with you. I miss the stories you read to me before bed. You taught me how to be kind to others and show empathy, even though it’s something I’m still learning to this day. You took on an important role in people’s lives, you stepped up.

    Thank you Grandma.
