Obituary

 

Sarah, born on May 7th, 1940, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2024, in her home in Bellingham, WA.

Known affectionately as Sadie she dedicated her life professionally as a Licensed Practical Nurse, providing compassionate care to those in need. Sadie will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, and warmth she brought into all the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy of nurturing and care will live on in the many lives she touched.

She is survived by her siblings Andrew Whelan, Mary Johnston, Christina Viale, Michael Whelan, Gemma Martinelli, and Marian Bingham, Many nieces and nephews, 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild (with another on the way).

Married to Robert Paul Racine they had five children together: Raymond Racine, Roberta Racine, Richard Racine, Ronald Racine and Rebecca Racine.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah Mary and Edward Whelan, father of her children Robert and their youngest son Ronald Racine. Siblings Elizabeth Walsh, Christopher Whelan, Veronica O’Brien, Edward Whelan, Angela Hotaling, Anastasia Michaud.

Friends and family will always remember Sadie as the life of the party, always up for another dance and a joke to be told. She lived her life to the fullest with a smile on her face and a mischievous twinkle in her eye.
