Obituary

Marie passed away peacefully on Oct. 31, 2024 at the age of 86. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Marie was born in Peach Bottom, PA on Dec. 1,1937 to Early and Ruth Caldwell. She was the oldest of 11 children.  After completing high school she worked at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland where she met and married her husband, Robert MacArthur. They had 4 children and, as a military family, they lived in several states and the Panama Canal Zone before retirement brought them back to Bob’s hometown of Bellingham, WA.

Marie was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church and a 50-year member of the Maple Leaf Chapter of The Order of Eastern Star. Through these, she forged many life-long friendships that she cherished.

Marie is survived by her 4 children: Dennis MacArthur, Diane Trujillo (Tim), Darlene Bergner (Jim) and David MacArthur (Marianne) ; 8 grandchildren: Trenton (Barb), Timothy (Billie-Jo), Tia (Rob), Steven (Nadia), Nicole (Evan), Dominic,  Brianna (James), and Angel; 14 great grandchildren; siblings Mary McElroy, Chet Caldwell, and Curtis Caldwell; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob, and her siblings Carl Caldwell, Edith Martin, RuthAnn Keefer, Betty Stemple, Barb Anderson, Charlie Caldwell, and June Caldwell.

Burial took place on Friday, Nov. 8^th at Bayview Cemetary/Moles Funeral Home.  May she rest in peace, reunited with those who have gone before her and may we all carry forward her spirit of love, generosity, and kindness.
