Obituary

Paul W. Cordsmeyer , age 73 passed away in Mt. Vernon on March 19. He was born on May 5, 1942 to Paul and Pauline (Zimmerman) Cordsmeyer. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Joel. Paul is survived by sister-in-law Olga, niece Lidiya (Slava) Maksymyuk and nephew John Meadors. Paul was a friend to everyone he met, and he adored his brother; his most prized possession in the world was a model airplane that his Joel had made and given to him long ago. Paul also had a life-long love for dogs. One time he went to meet a man for business. The man had two large German Shepherd guard dogs. Paul walked onto the property without notice and the dogs came running and barking, Paul said, “Hello Boys”, and the dogs rolled over to have their bellies rubbed! The man said “If my dogs like you that much there must be something good about you.” Paul served in the Air Force and was a disabled veteran. While in the service he went to school to be a denturist- making crowns, partials, etc. He loved to tell the story about a dentist who insisted that Paul stay in his area because Paul could make crowns that the dentist could “just toss into the patients mouth and seal them down”, very few adjustments were ever necessary, Paul was very proud of his dedication to doing the job right, in any job he took on. After his service was over in 1968 he started his own thriving denturist business in Florida until 1992 when Hurricane Andrew blew down the building and all in it was lost. He headed Northwest after that, “away from the hurricanes” he said. He landed in Ferndale, WA in 1999 and got a job as a maintenance man and newsletter compiler / writer for Technocracy Inc. until 2013. Paul will be missed. Service will be held at Moles Farewell Tributes – Greenacres, 5700 Northwest Dr, Ferndale on March 30th at 11:00 am. 1. I am so sorry to hear of Paul’s passing. His father and my father were first cousins. In a family with a very unusual last name, a single loss is a great thing. I wish I had had occasion to know Paul (my aunt remembers him as “Billy”). He sounds like a nice man–and a fellow Trekkie:)
