In loving memory of Patricia Cynthia Beckt. Patricia Cynthia Beckt, age 78, of Stanwood, WA died with her family by her side on her Saturday, March 23, 2024. She was born August 17th, 1945, to John and Alice Yuras, in Chicago, IL. Patricia (Patti) was a lover of life and full of joy and laughter. She married her now late husband Roger Eugene Beckt on March 6th, 1965 in Carbondale, IL. They loved to go on adventures and travel, including trips to Jamaica, Mexico, and the Bahamas. One of the most memorable trips that the family took together was to Maui where they snorkeled at the Molokini crater, drove the road to Hana, and spent time enjoying the beautiful beaches. Some of their favorite early memories were growing up on Lake Wilderness in Maple Valley, Washington, enjoying get togethers, card games, walks at the nearby park, holidays with family and friends, opening day of fishing, and the 4th of July. They had lots of pets and raised two litters of beautiful Saint Bernard puppies. Patti was very active in orchestrating “Maple Valley Days”, the largest annual community event to celebrate the city of Maple Valley and its heritage. Patti was also her daughter’s Girl Scout and Brownie troop leader for several years. In Patti’s younger years she would take her kids and several others from the neighborhood on an annual camping trip. She enjoyed camping and hiking with her family throughout the Pacific Northwest. Patti loved to read and cook, and diligently made a meticulous menu for the family every week. Patricia and Roger also loved music and were often found dancing together. After Greg and Lorelei attended Western Washington University, her and Roger moved to Bellingham and later Birch Bay, to enjoy the beauty and lifestyle of NW Washington. Later in life, Patti spent time traveling and taking road trips throughout the Northwest with her daughter, Lorelei. Patti enjoyed the Bellingham culture and spent time with “The Monday Group”, an informal club who met each week to enjoy great company and visit a variety of Bellingham’s restaurants. In 2022, Patti moved to Stanwood, WA to be closer to family and enjoyed time on Camano Island with her son Greg, (Lisa), and her grandchildren, Travis and Carson. Patti was a diehard Seahawk fan and considered herself a “12th man” through and through. Patti went to High School in South Chicago, attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois for a few years before having her first child, Greg. After Patti and Roger moved to Maple Valley, Washington in 1966, she worked at Boeing, and then as a librarian at Lake Wilderness Elementary School. Patti then performed various roles for the Tahoma School District Administration. After moving to Bellingham, she worked for the Bellingham Herald newspaper and finished her career at the Ferndale School District as the secretary for the Transportation and Maintenance Department. She could be described as gregarious, joyful, fun, creative, friendly, caring, sweet and loving. She was a great listener and active in her family’s lives. She had a passion for great cuisine and considered herself to be an unofficial food critic of all the local restaurants. Patti was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother that was very close with her family. She was compassionate, loyal, a great listener, and an endearing friend to many. Patti had a friendly personality, always wanting to share love, laughter and smiles with everyone in her life. She will be missed dearly and cherished forever. She is survived by her Daughter Lorelei Phillips, and her son, Gregory Beckt along with his wife, Lisa, and her Grandsons, Travis and Carson.
