Pamela Denise Moon

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce Pamela D. (Asp) Moon, age 53, passed away peacefully at Whatcom Hospice House surrounded by her family and friends on Saturday, March 7, 2026, after a brief but valiant fight against cancer. Pam was born in England at the USAF military installation RAF Lakenheath. As most “military brats” experienced, moving around the globe was a normal part of life. After her father retired from the Air Force, they landed in Bellingham, Washington, where she finished school and became a cosmetology instructor before meeting the love of her life, Dax Moon. Pamela and Dax were one of a kind, and anyone who knew them realized they were meant for each other. It wasn’t a typical marriage, and their love seemed to be a once in a lifetime cosmic fluke of pure love and happiness. They always preferred spending time with each other rather than going out with other friends and doing separate activities. They made each other laugh and their attraction to each other, well wow, and they let everyone know. They truly were Soul Mates. One could not be without the other. Through the trials and tribulations of life, through thick and thin, nothing could separate those two. Their love truly knew no bounds. Their adventurous life took them and their sons to living in California and even Hawaii before settling back down in Bellingham to be near her parents. Pamela was an amazing mother of two boys, who stayed home with their children throughout it all. She homeschooled, held book fares, and even was a little league coach for both boys and much much more. She read to them, taught them life, played enormous games with them and tucked them in every night. As a family, Pamela, Dax, Cody and Cyrus went out all the time or stayed in and always had fun. Whether it was camping, going to amusement parks, roller skating, bowling or even making little energy balls of tinfoil playing war like boys like to do, they did it! If you ask either child, they will tell you there is no better mama. Even throughout all of her early surgeries and pains she was able to help her family in every way. She was more about her family and making sure they were taken care of then worrying about herself and how she felt. In 2015, Pam and Dax welcomed their granddaughter, Violet Moon! Now Violet was included in all their fun activities they loved to do and kept the family dream alive. After raising rough and tumble boys, having a girl in the family brought many new and different joys and the bond between Pamela and Violet became so visceral that it rivaled the bond of most mothers to their daughters. Violet loved her Oma beyond anything; they both made each other laugh and a deep-down laugh with pure happiness and enjoyment while playing all their games together. Pamela felt so close to her family and loved them so much. Each of them is in their own special way. She respected them all. You couldn’t imagine how someone could love each person in her family so very much. It filled her with joy. Maybe her only regret was that she couldn’t spend every waking moment with every single loved one in her life. She even had a mysterious twin in the family of sorts. She adored her nieces to pieces. I don’t know if they will really understand how deep down, she loved them. One was like the twin and the other the daughter she wished she had before and after even Violet came into the picture. She loved having a sister and wished she could have spent more time with her. She always talked about all the times they had together as kids. She could not have asked for better parents. Terry and Renate raised a perfect human period. Thank you and good job! Pamela had a wonderful life from being a child with her family going around the world to then having her own family and traveling around with her new adventures. Pamela was easy to make friends with, of course. She was a spark of life, well respected, very intelligent and beyond beautiful. She was always happy and even if she wasn’t, she did not show it. She was the strongest yet softest. Kindest yet bold. She could dot you a picture, sew clothes or shoot a bullseye from 50 yards away. She could beat anyone on the racetrack, and stomp the competition in axe throwing, or she could listen to you on how amazing you were. She was the embodiment of yin and yang. Just one remarkable human being. She loved to get dolled up with heals and a dress or she could throw on some sweats and get dirty and plant a tree. She could go to a hard rock concert or just loved going to a play or musical. She spoke her mind when needed and kept it to herself if it would hurt someone else. The universe created a perfect soul. Her closest friends Brian and Michelle Corwin and their two sons, David and James, even came down in her final days to let her know how much she was loved and gave her assurance it was all going to be ok. Brian and Michelle were there in the beginning of Dax and Pamelas' journey in life, raising their families together and creating an everlasting bond and love. Having parties together, going for motorcycle rides, movies or just having dinner. Just enjoying everyone's company. Brian, Michelle and David were there with her husband Dax and her entire family at the time of her passing. Everyone giving those around her and herself the strength she and all needed to get through this beyond difficult time. With everyone pulling together knowing it will be ok and we will all see each other in the end. Without the strength of all together and one special girl that gave words of wisdom who, could not come because of going through her own extremely difficult trials, her husband would not been able to get thru this so a special thanks to everyone. She had an infectious laugh that made you laugh. Even her wonderful neighbors, Charles and Joel, came by in her last days to send their love as well. Charles and Joel would complement how wonderful she was and how beautiful she was every day they saw her. From across the street, they could see what a special person she was, like no other. Making her cookies (Molasses) that she never had before in 50 years and loved. Even one of her husband's friends Derrek came by and gave her a heart that said, “Always and Forever”. Not knowing it was Dax and Pamelas saying from day one. She was fierce and loyal, and her heart knew no bounds for love. She loved movies, music, cars and motorcycle rides, games of all kinds, just anything she could have fun doing with those she loved. “Pamela - we miss you terribly and the ache is unbearable; but we will take comfort every time we see sparkles or the color purple, we’ll know it’s you. And never forget that “a vest has sleeves.” Our family would like to extend a deep appreciation to Whatcom Hospice House for their kindness and gentle care they provided during her last week. Pamela is survived by her husband, Dax Moon; her two sons, Cody Moon and Cyrus Moon; her granddaughter, Violet Moon; her parents, Terry and Renate Asp; her sister and husband, Natalie (Asp) and Shawn Reader; her two nieces, Alyssa and Karli Reader; her mother-in-law, Lynn Moon, sisters-in-law Michelle (Moon) Armstrong and Gina (Moon) Ladd and their children; Annalynn, Zeek, Maggie, and Olivia. and her two beloved dogs, Yoda and Luna. After a private memorial service, which will be held at a later date, Pamela’s cremains will be interred at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale, Washington. Pamela life will never be the same without you here. The birds won’t sing as loud, the air is not as pure, the oceans are not as beautiful, and the sun does not shine as bright. It is the world's loss and ours.
