Obituary

Lillian Petersen passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Ferndale, Washington on January 18, 2022. She was born on February 12, 1930 to Henry and Mary Elsasser in Burlington, Washington. She was the youngest of 13 children.

Lillian was always proud to tell everyone that she was a farm girl, working many years on the family dairy farm and in the potato fields. A very petite little lady yet strong as an ox. She is now reunited with the love of her life, Jack Petersen, who passed away in December of 2003 after 55 years of marriage. After raising their 4 children, she went to work for Northwestern Commercial Bank and retired after 17 years when the bank was bought out by U.S. Bank. They looked forward to traveling each year to a different U.S. destination for Dad’s Army Reunion, the 736th Tank Battalion. They also enjoyed their trips to Reno, Nevada a few times a year. Until 2 years before her death, she was the first one in the van each morning, ready to run personal errands for our clients and was a huge help in delivering flowers for Haggen’s Floral, while in the van tapping her fingers to her favorite country singer, Merle Haggard. Then each evening after dinner she would do all the paperwork for the business. Mom loved to crochet blankets for the family and donated dozens of afghans to local nursing homes. She was an absolute lover of cats and dogs, too many to mention. She treated her pets as if they were her children. She never had a harsh or unkind work. She was truly loved and adored by her entire family.

She is survived by her 4 children: sons Richard Petersen (friend Shana), Jerry (Cindy) Petersen, her overprotective daughters Sue (Doug) Miller, Karen Petersen, grandchildren: Karianne Soto, Brent Crabtree, Jesse Petersen, Connie, Richey, and great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Steinbach, Tyler Steinbach, Randy Soto, Stefany Soto, Rylee Petersen, Colton Petersen, Jacklyn Crabtree, and Byron Crabtree

There will be a graveside service Thursday, January 27th, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale.
