Obituary
Laura Bennett passed away peacefully on August 31, 2018 in Burlington, WA
Laura was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on October 19, 1919 to Hector and Laura (Roubillard) Lagasse. She grew up in Bellingham and graduated from Bellingham High School in 1939. While working as a beautician at The Leopold she met her husband to be, Bill Bennett, who was a bellhop at the time. She continued her beauty work from home while she raised all four daughters. Laura was a Camp Fire Leader for many years, a member of the Emblem Club (named Club woman of the year in 1991), and was also involved in the Sewing Club, Pinochle Club, and Lunch Club. Laura was a party girl, she loved entertaining, cooking, canning, and setting a beautiful table. She was also a lover of roses. Family traditions included French Canadian Meat Pie for Christmas morning and her “Chewy Stuff”.
She is preceded in death by her parents, eleven siblings, husband William Bennett, and daughter Brenda Bennett. Survivors include her sister Beatrice Galey, daughters Bonnie (Rick) Lamont, Bernida (Jerry) Flynn, and Becky (Jerry) Parker, 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Laura’s family would like to thank the staff at Prestige Care and Rehab in Burlington for their loving care and support over the years. Memorial donations may be made in Laura’s name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

As Laura’s nephew (her brother David’s second son), I was honored to know and love Aunt Laura. The Bennet family was close to us; each northern vacation (we live in California) always included an extended stay with Bill, Laura, Bonnie, Bernida and Becky. I didn’t know Brenda, since I was born around the time of her passing. Among other things our family shared experiences with cystic fibrosis with the Bennets. (It’s a genetic illness.)
I pray that each of those who grieve Laura’s passing will experience the peace of Christ and his everlasting comfort. Laura was sweetness and cheer, kindness and sensitivity. She passed on a love of life, an appreciation for nature and beauty, and of course admiration for a nice head of hair.
I’m alive because of Jesus, and I know Laura is alive in the fullest sense of the word, in the presence of her Savior.
