James Irving Williams

Jim Williams went to be with the Lord on Tuesday February 2nd, 2016 surrounded by the love of his family, life stories and laughter. Jim was born in Seattle, Washington on November 1st, 1954 to his mother, Shirley. He was adopted by Harold Williams as a young boy. He became a very talented musician quickly after picking up his first guitar when he was 14. He grew up in Junction, Texas where he learned to wrench on cars and outrun the local police. A rebel in a small town, he became the legend, and often carried the handle name “Blue Flame” with truckers, as he would fly by in his mustang, music blaring. Joan Lamar stole his heart in the Summer of ‘79, and they married shortly after in Reno, California on July 14th. Speeding down the highway, in Jim’s souped up muscle car, the memories of a strong marriage and family bond began. Jamey Williams was the first born in 1980, followed by Jeremy in 1981, and daughter Julie in 1983. He gave away his daughter in 2010 to Tim Vandenheuvel, and gained a Daughter in Law Markel Robinson, in 2011. Also in 2011, a special angel named Misty came into his life announcing him as her father. Shortly after, there was no doubt in the reflection, mirroring Jim’s own image and the apparent kindred spirit through their laugher, looks and character. Jim worked hard all of his life, between driving truck and becoming a master mechanic, conquering gas and diesel engines and aerospace machines. His friends at Aerospace Manufacturing Technologies were like brothers to him. He visited them often, even after he stopped working there due to his diagnosis. Often times you’d find him under the hood of a car of those in need, assisting all; whether family, friend or stranger. No one had better talent with a tow strap and tools than Jim Williams, impressing many. Music was a huge part of his life, he was often moved to tears by songs that touched his soul. He blessed many people with music tributes for different occasions, to include weddings and holidays. He often played in bands, entertaining his family around a campfire, and served many years as a favorite bass and guitar player on the Worship team. October 2012, Jim Williams was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Doctors said he didn’t have much time, but much to their surprise, he fought hard and lived for 3 strong years and 4 months. During this time, he fulfilled his Bucket List dreams with his family by creating more memories and stories which he loved to share. In February 2015, the desires of his heart were fulfilled by the birth of his first grandchild, Lexi Lynn Williams. She filled his heart with joy, as well giving him a stronger will to survive. Lexi and her Grandpa had an immediate connection, and no one could make her laugh like him. Jim Williams is survived by his loved ones, and his spirit will live on through his Children and Grandchildren. Special Thanks to the Peace Health Cancer Center, and those who treated him, giving him the opportunity to live his life to the fullest during his cancer journey. Our most special thanks go to our Lord and Savior who died for Jim, and has now met him face to face. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 9th, 2016 at 1pm at Greenacres Memorial Park, followed by a committal service and reception, also at Greenacres.
