Isabel Rebecca Sawdye

Isabel Rebecca ‘Becky’ Sawdye, the youngest child of Amos and Kathryn (Schuld) Beatty was born April 5, 1928, in Glendive, MT, and peacefully went home to her Lord with her beloved cat, Katy, nestled by her side on October 28, 2014, in Bellingham, WA. She was preceded in death (2010) by her husband, Bud, of 61 years. Becky loved her family! She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. By her example her children learned a deep abiding love for their children. As was typical for her era, when the kids grew older she returned to the workforce as a secretary at JC Penney. She retired with great pride after 20 years of service. Since her favorite flower was the rose, for their wedding anniversary, Bud would give her one rose for each year they were married. Her daughter, Theresa, carried on that tradition when he could no longer. Becky loved to talk about things that matter in life! She valued conversation and was well informed of current events. We all know she developed well thought out opinions about many things and valued your opinion which she actively sought out. Who hasn’t heard her apologize for speaking her mind? We wouldn’t have it any other way, Mom, because this was in essence who you were – a strong persevering woman with a great mind and profound love for your family. Becky was loved and will be greatly missed by her children, Theresa (Roger) Gresley, Luanne (Judy Hall) Sawdye, Leslie (Melissa) Sawdye, Mary (Jeff) Rich; grandchildren, Christine Buchanan, Jason (Andrea) Sawdye, Kelly (Kevin) Swendt, Lorie (Dan) Washburn, Rebecca (David) Bridgman, Angela Sawdye, Jeffrey (Sara Baluch) Rich, Maggie Rich; great grandchildren, Madeline Sawdye, Brayden and Aubrielle Buchanan, Landon Swendt, Eva Washburn, soon to be born Elsie Bridgman; and her many relatives and friends. Friends and family are invited to attend the Rosary on November 5, 2014 at 9:30 am, with the Funeral Mass following at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1111 14th Street, Bellingham. Reception at the Parish Hall will follow the Mass. Burial ceremony will take place after the reception at Bayview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Heart Church; Trinity Missions (9001 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20903); Whatcom Humane Society (2172 Division Street, Bellingham, WA 98226); or your favorite charity in Becky’s name.
