Obituary

Caroline Kortus passed away peacefully on Monday, September 29, 2014 at age 86 in Lynden. Born October 1, 1927 in Leota, MN to Dan and Rikki (Baron) Dooyema. Caroline Dooyema married Albert Kortus in Edgerton, MN on December 12, 1952. They moved to the Sumas/Everson area the summer of 1955, and were dedicated dairy farmers until they retired in 2004. Caroline was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, friends and especially the children. Her children will never forget her quirky teaching ways and her love for causing mischief. She had a big heart and always a smile on her face, with a twinkle in her eye. She loved being around people and she was surrounded by family, until the very end. Caroline is survived by her daughters Gloria Bryce (Herb); Donna Oltman (Greg); Alice Kortus; Karen Eldred (Wes); sons John (Donna); Dan (Brenda); and sister Margaret Guthrie.
