Obituary
Breann passed away in Bellingham on July 16, 2024. Breann grew up in a loving home in Edmonds surrounded by family. After graduating from Edmonds-Woodway High School as an accomplished athlete on the swim and yell/cheerleading teams, she went on to study Psychology and Sociology at Western Washington University. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts, Breann made Bellingham her home and established her career working in various positions for more than 10 years at Associates in Family Medicine and most recently at Bellingham Rheumatology. She made many lasting friendships throughout her career.
Breann enjoyed the outdoors and being in nature, making the most of Bellingham’s hiking trails and campgrounds, often with her beloved dog Kaya tagging along. She was passionate about fitness and wellness, teaching weight training and aerobics classes. Breann also participated in many local races including half marathons and Spartan Races, placing 4th in the women’s group during the Miles for Memories Glow 5K run. It was through this community that Breann met Roger, her boyfriend and love of her life, as they planned to spend the rest of their lives together.
An avid traveler, Breann saw much of the world, visiting Thailand, Bali, Greece, France, Sweden, Hawaii, Las Vegas and many parts of the West Coast. But perhaps most of all, Breann was known for her enthusiasm in celebrating the holidays. Breann had a knack for finding and collecting holiday decorations, including her collection of turkeys for Thanksgiving.
Loved by many for her penchant to turn any situation into a good time, Breann will be dearly missed by her friends and family. Above all, Breann’s life was defined by living on her terms and enjoying every second. Fiercely loyal to her friends, Breann was loved and supported by an impressive community of women, including the Sunday Funday Runday Crew.
Breann is survived by her mother Denise Ruthford, boyfriend Roger, sister Emily Albright (James), brother Andrew Ruthford. Uncle Les (Tory), Aunt Rita (Dennis), Uncle Cecil. Niece Ellie, nephews Julian and Lincoln Albright. She was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Ruthford.
