Betty Estella Littlefield

Betty Estella Littlefield was born January 12, 1930, and died at 95 years of age in her Bellingham, WA home on July 12, 2025. Those words sound final and yet, Betty leaves a legacy of love and faith and many who hold her close to their heart. Her husband of 73 years, Levern, remembers a loving, supportive wife, and fellow adventurer. Her children, Linda (Katrina) and Kenneth hold many memories about consistent and enduring love of her family, her smile, and her love of God’s word. Lynda and David (Sam) and Kasidy and Emma, Betty’s beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren will not forget a grandma that always welcomed them with hugs and laughter. Grandma enjoyed every minute with them and loved them fiercely! Betty is also survived by her sister, Joyce Scholtz and many other family members who each hold precious memories of her in their heart. It is hard to summarize the life of Betty Littlefield in a paragraph or two. Many will remember her as their fourth-grade teacher or colleague at Everson Elementary School where she taught for 30 years. Some might remember hikes, campouts or singing camp songs with Betty when she was a Camp Fire leader. Still others might think of her competitive spirit whether she was playing cards, pitching for her softball team or bowling with her teammates. Betty’s church was very important to her. As a member of Goshen Community Church for over 70 years, her church will remember her as a steadfast and faithful woman who played the organ, taught Sunday school, helped organized Vacation Bible School, led the Women’s Bible study or cooked at Bible camp. Her children remember waking up every day to find her reading her Bible, with a cup of coffee enjoying the view of Mount Baker as she studied God’s word. She will be remembered as a woman of God who cherished her church family. There are still others wo might think of Betty in Alaska, fishing alongside Levern for 17 years. It was an adventure she loved, and she was well known for her excellent pies! Then there are those who will hold memories of her time as a snowbird at Golden Vista in Arizona where she was involved in book club and Christian Women’s group and Bible study. For many years, she also was an avid traveler around the west with Levern in their motorhome. Throughout her life, Betty cherished her family, her church, and her many friends. She was known for her beautiful smile and her loving acceptance of those around her. She brought a sweetness to the world that will be missed. Betty left a strong legacy of kindness, love of God and others, and living life to the fullest. She encourages us all to do the same. Services for Betty’s extended family and her church family will be held at Goshen Community Church at 6459 Mission Rd, Everson, WA 98247 at 1:00 pm on Saturday Aug. 2, 2025; following at 2:30 pm will be a celebration of life reception at the church for all who wish to remember Betty and offer condolences to her family.
