Obituary

Arthur Foster Heald was born April 10, 1930 in Plainfield, New Jersey to Cornelia MacArthur and Charles E. Heald. Art resided in New Jersey and graduated from Demarest High School in Hoboken, NJ in 1948. Later that year, Art moved to Whatcom County, where his mother was living.
Art entered Western Washington College but his education was interrupted by the Korean War when he served in the Air National Guard. Art completed his degree in economics and finance in 1954 and took a position at Bellingham National Bank. He was active in the Jaycees and Rotary Club in Bellingham. He also crewed in sailboat racing.
In 1958 Art married Nadine Putnam and they raised four children together. In 1963 the family moved to Salem, Oregon where Art went to work with New York Life. He stayed with New York Life for over 25 years, then worked for several years for smaller firms in Salem and eventually started his own company, Best Ever Inc. When ever Art was asked How are you?” or How is it going?” his usual response was Best ever.”
In 1998, Art reconnected with his college sweetheart Georgia McCush Bianchi and they were married in Ojai, California in September of that year. In 2004 the couple returned to Bellingham. Art enjoyed playing tennis and golf at Illahe Country Club in Salem. In Bellingham he played at Bellingham Golf and Country Club and Bellingham Tennis Club.
Arthur was preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn Fowler and Janet Whitbread, and his son Stephen.
He is survived by his wife Georgia, his first wife, Nadine, sons Christopher of Bend Oregon, and Peter (Susan) of North Carolina, and daughter, Catharine (Ian) Wood of Vancouver, BC. He leaves four grandchildren Madeline Wood, Jennifer Heald, Tyler Heald, and Drew Heald. He is also leaves 3 step children, Diana (Jon) Voorhees of Bellingham, Dave (Nicki) Bianchi, and Bill (Cici) Bianchi, all in California. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northwest Parkinsons Foundation.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 13, at 1 PM, at Moles Farewell Tributes-Bellingham.
