William C. "Bill" Young

William Carl ‘Bill’ Young was born September 16, 1949, to Delmer and Ida Young in Tacoma WA. His parents preceded him in death along with his wife Margie who passed away on October 29, 2022. Very hard for all his family was when Bill died on April 7, 2024. His additional family members who died prior to Bill was his brother Robert, sister Jean, and nephew Billy Atwood. His family that lives on are his sisters, Carol Wells Tacoma WA her sons Cory and Robert, and Linda Bryce Glenoma WA, (Bill) and sons Charlie and Josh, many great nieces and nephews. His stepchildren are Beth Boyd, Bellingham WA, Mary Jo Boyd, Bellingham WA, daughters Mandy and Mallory, Jeri Azure (Floyd), Poplar MT, daughters Melissa Atkinson and Denise Barr, and son Floyd, Harold J Boyd Jr ‘Butch’ (Cheryl) Poplar MT, sons Robert, Harold (dec), Merle and daughter Brandy, and Kathy Boyd (Brent) Bellingham WA, sons Ryan, Cury, Nash and daughter Savannah. He and Margie have thirteen grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren. Bill and Margie always had dogs and their Jack, Scottish Terrier, lives on with Kathy and Beth. Although Bill had many friends, he had incredible friends in Louie and Pam of Tacoma WA. Bill and Louie have been friends for many years, back to high school days when they had some ‘wild & crazy’ times. Their stories go on forever; they could talk and try to top each other with who had the craziest story. In Bill’s last few days of life, Louie made sure he was with Bill. Bill served in the US Navy for four years. He left the service with an Honorable Discharge. When he came home from Viet Nam, he went to Western Washington University and earned his Bachelor of Science. Bill worked for many years in the telecommunications field. He was offered promotions many times, but he always says he wasn’t a man to sit at a desk. He loved to reminisce. He could sit and tell stories many times, so many, the listener could finish his sentences. He did years of genealogy research and would sit and tell the history to whoever was his captive audience. No one had a laugh like Bill’s; it was contagious. He was truly happy with his life. He and Margie were partners in life; they had their routines, and enjoyed their time together, even if it was just going grocery shopping. Bill loved taking care of his flower gardens in his backyard. At night, he and Jack would sit in the back yard watching the stars and listening to jazz wafting from the radio in the garage. He even pulled crab grass in the front with the jazz music blaring away. Bill was a quiet man about his faith, but, when asked, he could carry on a conversation, knowing his Catholic history and the history of the Church. Anytime there was a situation needing prayer; Margie would say “Bill did you say your prayers”? He would just quietly nod and smile. He was well versed in the history of wars and for any who showed up at the house; he’d have the History channel on; probably watching a show he had already seen numerous times about world wars. He was easy to please; give him a good meal and he was satisfied. As the saying goes; ‘he left far too soon’. After Margie died, he really felt he needed to be present for everyone in his family. Although he said “it’s all in God’s hands”…
