Virginia R. Fraser

Virginia R. Fraser was born on June 12th, 1922 in Custer, WA to Sadie and Joseph Irwin. She was the youngest of 5. She grew up helping her dad work outside on the family farm and was always a farm girl at heart. In her younger days, she worked at the Bellingham National Bank. She married Don Fraser on May 18, 1951 and he was the love of her life. Together, they enjoyed hiking, antique cars, traveling, watching westerns, attending music events, spending time with their pets and later, they built a home in Everson where they eventually retired. Virginia was a caring and devoted wife. She loved country living and was still out mowing her yard into her late 90’s. She found joy in her friends and neighbors, her horses, the foothills behind her home, her plants and flowers, her pets, dancing in her kitchen, and attending horse and music events. She was the elegant country lady and a sharp dresser. She was a hard worker and disciplined, up early every day. She ate healthy meals and walked daily. She kept up on news and politics. Her home was well decorated in her favorite Victorian style along with rose themed collectibles and teddy bears. She enjoyed historic things and places. She was a kind grandmother to Stacey, Steph (Travis), Starla (Brandon), and great-grandmother to Sinclair, Tarilyn, Ryan and Maggie. She valued her friendships with her neighbors who helped her maintain her quality of life in her home. She was a good listener and confidante, thoughtful, caring, and dependable. She had a feisty personality and could make others laugh. Some things she appreciated were her cat Vega, fresh blueberries from neighboring farms, a letter from her niece Elaine, a glass of rose’ wine, a piece of dark chocolate, watching football or golf, an episode of Big Valley and a vase of dark red roses on her coffee table. Stoic and poised, she was a rare, beautiful lady who lived well to her 100th year. She was an inspiration to everyone that knew her.
