Sharon Lynn Stanley

Sharon Lynn Stanley, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, at the age of 74, surrounded by her family. She was born on February 14, 1951, in Bellingham, Washington, to Vernon and Lynn Abbott, who preceded her in death. Sharon grew up in Laurel, where she developed a lifelong love for horses. She graduated from Meridian High School in 1969 and began her career as a bank teller at Bellingham National Bank. She later worked as an Educational Assistant at Nooksack Valley School District and enjoyed the camaraderie of her women’s bowling league at Park Bowl. She married Raymond Stanley on September 17, 1971, and together they raised two sons, Rodney and Reed, who were the center of her world. Sharon’s greatest achievement was being a mother and grandmother. She was devoted to supporting her boys in everything they did which included helping run races at Hannegan Speedway, organizing local wrestling tournaments, cheering at baseball games, and traveling across the West Coast to watch them race motocross. Sharon loved living on Lake Whatcom and watching her boys grow up on the lake and enjoyed time spent water skiing. She also enjoyed the outdoors, spending countless hours camping, hunting, and riding dirt bikes with her family. Time spent on the trails were among her favorite memories. When her grandchildren came along, her joy only grew. She delighted in watching them dance, play basketball, softball, volleyball, soccer, and race motocross. She celebrated each accomplishment with pride and love. Sharon is survived by her brother, Guy Abbott (Margaret), her sister, Carol Jansen, her sons Rodney Stanley (Alecia) and Reed Stanley (Maggie), and her treasured grandchildren: Cassidy Thompson (Isaac) and their son Easton; Allison Stanley; Abigail Stanley; Jace Stanley; Zoey Stanley; and Ivy Stanley. Her faith in Christ was the foundation of her life. Sharon was a member of Cornwall Church, where she loved worship and Bible study, and later attended Covenant Church in Moses Lake, Washington, while living with her son Rodney and his family. Watching her granddaughters sing on the worship team brought her immense joy. When she was no longer able to attend services in person, she continued to worship faithfully through FaceTime with Rodney during Covenant Church’s services. She cherished every opportunity to worship her Savior. Sharon will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her resilient spirit, and her steadfast faith. There will be a private graveside service for immediate family.
