Patricia Jane Forgette

PATRICIA JANE FORGETTE Patricia Jane Forgette died Sunday, October 14, 2012 in Bellingham, Washington, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born to John F. Deegan and Anne E. Moran, both from The Republic of Ireland, in Seattle, Washington, December 8, 1921. After Patricia graduated from West Seattle High School; she attended Metropolitan Business College in Seattle. There she learned skills which served her well in numerous secretarial and administrative assistant jobs in many places and various military or civilian functions. Such functions included personnel, air operations, inspector general, command, congressional liaison, transportation, intelligence, strategic missiles, construction, and communications. She lived and worked in Seattle, California, Japan, French Morocco, Washington DC, Connecticut, Germany, Montana, and Nebraska. In 1943, she and the surviving members of her family moved to the Los Angles area of California, where Patricia worked in several different companies. In 1949, she moved to Tokyo, Japan as a civil service employee at Headquarters Far East Air Forces, first in Civilian Personnel and then with the general officer Deputy Commander for Operation when the Korean War began in June 1950. In November 1951, Patricia moved to Rabat, French Morocco where she worked in Headquarters 5th Air Division (SAC), first in the Inspector General’s office and then as secretary to the general officer Commander of the air division. Later, she was the administrative assistant to the general officer Commander of 17th Air Force (SAC), also in Rabat. While in Morocco she met and married Air Force member Joseph Fitzpatrick. After completing her Air Force Civil Service contracts overseas, she moved to Washington DC, where she was the Administrative Assistant to the Vice Presidents of The Superior Oil Company, and later in the same position for Sundstrand Corporation. In those positions she had many contacts with members of the Federal Legislator. In 1962, she divorced Joseph Fitzpatrick. In October 1963, Patricia returned to Air Force Civil Service employment with duty at Headquarters, United States Air Forces Europe, Wiesbaden, Germany. She first worked in the Data Services Center, and then the Office of Information. In Wiesbaden she met her future husband, Air Force member John F. Forgette who was also served in the Headquarters. Patricia moved to California in February 1965, where she and John were married, after which she was employed at secretary to the Chairman History Department, University of California, Riverside. In June 1966, they moved to Vandenberg Air Force Base, Lompac, California where Patricia worked in the Headquarters, 1st Strategic Aerospace Division, first in the Directorate of Operations, and then in the Protocol Office. After John completed his last tour duty in Vietnam, they moved to Munich, Germany, were Patricia was employed in Headquarters 66th Military Intelligence Group (US Army), first in Operations, and then as secretary to the Commander. In 1975 they moved to Malmstrom Air Force Base, Great Falls, Montana, where Patricia worked in 341st Strategic Missile Wing, Deputy Commander for Operations, Missile Combat Crew Training & Standardization Division. Later she worked in Air Force Systems Command, Space & Missile Systems, Site-Alteration Task Force. Still later she worked in North American Air Defense Command, 24th Air Division, and Directorate of Intelligence. Patricia’s last employment was at Offutt Air Force Base, Omaha, Nebraska, in Headquarters Strategic Air Command, Directorate of Communications where she performed the duties of Administrative Assistant to the Commander. She retired in June 1984, after which she and John moved to Bellingham, Washington. Patricia was an avid traveler, logging over 245 individual trips in Europe; Great Brittan; Ireland; North and Central Africa; Mediterranean and Caribbean Seas; North, Central and South America. She is survived by sisters Kathleen M. Diaz and Enid Po’ Anderson of California and husband John F. Forgette ‘Of Bellingham, Washington. No services are planned.
