Michelle Diane Moffett

Michelle Hinkle Moffett, a long-time resident of Bellingham, Washington, passed away surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Michelle was known for her vibrant personality, generous spirit, strong convictions, and boundless energy. She was a woman who could talk for hours about everything and nothing at the same time, and she had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever she went. She was warmhearted, outspoken, beautiful, and full of life—a true firecracker who left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Michelle attended school in Bellingham and graduated from Sehome High School. As a child, she treasured spending time at her paternal grandparents' home, Ben and Sylvia Hinkle, near Lake Whatcom. She was grateful to be able to share that special place and those memories with her own children later. She also cherished the time she spent with her maternal grandparents, Wilbur and Imogene Whitely. Michelle found joy in many of life’s simple pleasures. She loved music, and her children fondly remember waking up on Saturday mornings to her favorite songs playing throughout the house as she cleaned. She enjoyed playing Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country, taking great pride in finding every collectible. Christmas held a particularly special place in her heart, and she worked every year to make the holiday magical and memorable for her children. Animals were another important part of Michelle’s life. She dearly loved her cats Harley, Thor, and Loki, and took great pleasure in spoiling her fur grandbabies, Saun, Swirly, Kaz, and Butters. Her most special feline companion was her beloved Bookie, who shared 16 years of her life and held a place in her heart all his own. Michelle’s greatest love was her family. She is survived by her parents, Linda and Bill Graves and Greg and Gail Hinkle; her children, Alex, Ben, and Max; her fiancé, Ed Kline; her siblings, Jeff Hinkle and Traci Hinkle and Gabe Hinkle; and her aunt and uncle, Edd and Virginia Perry, along with extended family and friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Wilbur and Imogene Whitely and Ben and Sylvia Hinkle. Michelle will be remembered for her infectious energy, generous heart, strong spirit, love of music and family, and the countless memories she created throughout her life. She had a gift for making ordinary moments memorable, and the love she gave so freely will continue on through the people and lives she touched. A celebration of Michelle’s life will be held at a later date.
