Michael John Waltari

“Safe at Home”, was God’s official call as Michael John Waltari crossed his final base and arrived safe at home on July 30, 2015. Michael joined the world on February 11, 1996, as he began his innings of life with Chad and Pamela Waltari. He was an MVP (Most Valuable Person) to his family and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. His infectious smile, gentle kindness, witty sense of humor, and all around team player attitude are only a few of the many qualities he is now sharing with others. He played the role of “coach” as he proudly displayed a positive example to his younger siblings Bailey, Nathan, Tyler, and Nick. Amongst his many talents and interests he possessed, Michael enjoyed watching WWF wrestling, mountain biking, playing sports, working on his truck, watching baseball movies, and hanging out with his family and friends the most. He completed his high school education at Ferndale High School in 2014 with the friends and classmates he had known since Kindergarten. He was employed at Alpha Technologies Repair Depot in Bellingham. Michael has joined our angels in the outfield whom arrived safe at home before him: Roy and Patsy Miller, Great Grandparents, John and Ruby Waltari, Great Grandparents, Reverend Kenneth H. Fox, Grandfather, Arthur Ryals, Great Grandfather, Ethel Ryals, Great Grandmother, James “Ed” Fox, Great Grandfather, Girlean Fox, Great Grandmother. The roster of players who he preceded to his field of dreams are: Chad (Dad) and Magan Waltari (Step-Mom), Pamela Fox-Perez (Mom) and Richard Perez (Step-Dad), Bailey Waltari (Brother), Nathan Waltari (Brother), Tyler Sager (Step-Sister) Nick Sager (Step-Brother), Denise & Butch Waltari (Grandparents), Luana Fox-Swilling (Grandmother) and Bud Swilling (Step-Grandfather), Todd & Davita Fox (Aunt and Uncle), Michelle Fox and Ben Beck (Aunt and Uncle), Isaac & Teri Waltari (Aunt and Uncle), Angie Perez (Aunt), and Reuben Perez (Uncle), Terry Perez (Step-Grandmother), Edward Gulliksen, (Step-Grandfather), several cousins, and numerous friends who will miss him beyond measure. Although his life’s innings were completed before we were ready, Michael played the perfect game, and left us with memories that will live on in our hearts forever! One of Michael’s greatest pleasures in life was eating. One of his favorite movies had this quote: “This better be a short game, I gotta get home for lunch”. – I know their serving all his favorites! A celebration of Michael’s life will be held on Saturday, August 15th at 11:00 A.M. at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale. In Michael’s true fashion, everyone is welcome to wear “Whatcom County Casual” attire. Reception to immediately follow at 1279 Byers Lane, Ferndale.
